Brest Marinas: the port de plaisance du Moulin Blanc and Marina du Château have just successfully renewed their ISO 18725 2024 ‘Clean Harbours Active in Biodiversity’ certification for a further 3 years.
This environmental initiative, which aims to preserve the natural environment and the quality of coastal waters, involves a number of actions:
Facilities available to boaters:
- Hard-standing and yard areas that recover and treat polluted water
- Pump-out stations afloat (used oils, black water and bilge water)
- Clean points for special waste
- Selective waste containers.
Awareness-raising actions for staff members:
- Ongoing training
- Emergency procedures (fire, pollution)
- Use of eco-labelled products
- Constant attempts to save water and reduce energy consumption
Communication:
- Encourage boaters to adopt good practices: Charter, flyers, nudges, etc.
- Exhibitions to encourage education about local biodiversity.
- Participative operations: Objectif plancton (Target plankton – a project aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of plankton in the ocean); Défi Plastique (A 2-hour citizen clean-up at various Brest locations with scientists and environmental groups); Je navigue Je trie (I sail I sort).
