Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour has been presented with its award as winner of the Coastal Marina of the Year for under 250 berths in The Yacht Harbour Association (THYA) awards.

Beaulieu River Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour

The coveted accolade recognises the best of over 160 Gold Anchor accredited marinas around the globe, with boaters voting for their favourite marina delivering excellent facilities and services.

The Beaulieu River and Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour is one of the most desired locations and one of the few privately-owned estuaries in the world. Its picturesque setting and wildlife has been preserved by four centuries of custodianship by the forebears of Lord Montagu. A recent £400,000 investment in new five-star facilities has provided an upgraded showers and facilities building, in keeping with its natural setting in the New Forest National Park.

Lord Montagu said: “I am delighted that Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour has won this award, especially as it is based on the votes of people who visit and keep their boats on the river. The work done by Harbour Master Wendy Stowe and her staff to improve the facilities and services is evidently appreciated by our customers and I would like to thank them for this ringing endorsement.”

To mark the achievement, a trophy was presented by the Chairman of TYHA at the recent Marina Conference.

Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour has a long track record of giving a very personal and outstanding service to its customers, which Wendy and her team have continued to build on since she brought her extensive industry knowledge and experience to the role on her appointment three years ago.

Full marina services, an open policy boatyard and chandlery offering boating equipment and groceries are available, along with a range of benefits including free Wi-Fi. A restaurant, bar and tea shop are on the doorstep at the 18th century shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard, with its Maritime Museum. Bike hire is provided and the Beaulieu attraction is only minutes away. Yacht harbour visitors receive 20% off attraction visits.

The yacht harbour offers a gateway to the New Forest National Park and is close to the yachting hub of Cowes. It is an ideal starting point for weekend sails around the Solent, with nearly destinations including Lymington, Newtown Creek, Yarmouth, the Folly Inn on the Medina River, Alum Bay, the Needles and Hurst Castle.
