Dover Marina will be holding an open day on 31st August 2013 in order to provide both budding mariners, as well as those already enjoying the fantastic community benefits of sailing at the Port of Dover, with opportunities to try new experiences or learn more about this popular activity.
From 10am to 4pm, in collaboration with the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club (RCPYC), anyone aged from 8 to 88 years old will be able to try their hand at sailing and yachting, view displays from some of the leading marine industry manufacturers, explore the new and used boat sales, enjoy the Port of Dover Police RIB demonstrations, the sea cadets, coast guards, flare disposal services*, attendance by local marine businesses, as well as activities for the younger members of the family.
Dover Marina is keen to emphasise the fact that not only do the offer great service but they also have great facilities for leisure boating enthusiasts.
Says Chris Windsor, Dover Marina Manager “It is hoped that the “Open Fun Day” will not only attract existing boat owners, but hopefully people based in Sussex & Kent area that are interested in getting out on the water. “
The open day forms part of the Port of Dover’s commitment to the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) Active Marina Programme, which offers additional training, cruising and social opportunities throughout the year. The event is also held in association with the British Marine Federations ‘on the water’ campaigns.
Dover Marina expect to be repeating the event next year, building on what they hope will be a successful and enjoyable day in the Dover sunshine!
So join them on August 31st at Crosswall Quay, Dover Marina between 10:00 and 16:00. Car parking is free and refreshments will be available.
