Mayflower Marina is recognised as the best of British Gold Anchor accredited coastal marinas as decided by customer recommendations.
This popular and long-standing marina is located in charming surroundings at the mouth of the Tamar River in the south-west of England. Mayflower Marina was one of the original few marinas that first created what was previously called Transmanche Marinas and have been a mainstay of the association ever since. Highly experienced managing director of the marina Charles Bush is UK representative for TransEurope Marinas and his professional dedication to the industry is widely respected.
Nominations for this inaugural competition were reviewed by a panel of independent judges electing the winner based on customers’ feedback. The amount of completed forms was calculated once taken into consideration the number of berths, providing a percentage rate of satisfied boaters. Members of the panel included representatives from the Royal Yachting Association, senior TYHA committee members and yachting media journalists.
Forms completed by customers rated a variety of facilities and services in marinas from lighting and security to the appearance and ambience of the marina. Warm reports flooded in from happy Mayflower berth-holders who were delighted with the staff’s professional and friendly attitude and the marina’s level of upkeep and community spirit.
Awarded in January at the London boat show by Sarah Treseder Chief Executive Office of the RYA, Charles Bush expressed his pleasure upon receiving this recognition: “To have won this award because our customers have voted for us makes it a particularly special achievement. Over the years we have invested heavily in the marina’s facilities and whilst facility is important, in our business it is people and relationships that matter most. The friendly atmosphere at Mayflower Marina is a positive reflection on all of the people involved on our site but none more so than our staff. I am delighted to accept this award on their behalf. I should like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their on-going support and for helping us to achieve this tremendous accolade.”
TYHA’s Libby Gordon, responsible for managing the competition explained that “customer satisfaction was the most effective gauge for measuring the quality of service offered by a marina and the fact that manager Charles Bush also came very close to scooping manager of the year shows that the very established Mayflower Marina continues to provide an excellent service for berth holders.”
