Marina Davila 2

Marina Davila Sport

Acting on the requests of various international boaters who visit Marina Davila each year, Director Carlos Gago made the decision to apply to join TransEurope Marinas in line with the company’s management strategy. The choice was made partly in order to stimulate long-term occupancies and also to reward the loyalty of many clients who spend each summer in the marina. In parallel, greater visibility for the marina within a prestigious European network was another obvious advantage.

Over the last decade, Marina Davila has organised various nautical events including the Rodman Trophy Sports Fishing Competition, Carreras de Bólidas del Mar (offshore speedboats), I Davilda Jetraid de Motos Acuáticas (Jetski racing event) in conjunction with the Galician Jetski Federation, Jetfoil Exhibition, etc. As part of the Galician Marinas network, they have organised and hosted many editions of the Festival Náutico de Vigo (Vigo Boating Festival) that draws together the regions nautical and yard-based companies in order to provide a clear vision of the many products and services on offer. Visitors can enjoy a great range of activities including try-dives, sailing for children, fishing competitions. etc.

In 2005, Vigo was chosen as departure city for the Volvo Ocean Race which marked the first time that the departure was to take place outside the UK. So successful was the event that there is a chance that the 2017/2018 might well return to Vigo.

Since opening and thanks to its infrastructure and significant depth thoughout the marina, Marina Davila has welcomed more than 160 superyachts, both motor boats and sailing yachts. Some of the most memorable visitors include M/Y LUNA (114.20m – Lloyd Werft), M/Y MAYAN QUEEN IV (92m Blohm & Voss) M/Y AMARYLIS (78.43m Abeking & Rasmussen), M/Y PEGASO (now called NAIA) (73,60m Freire), S/Y VELSHEDA (39.40m Camper & Nicholson Yachts) and S/Y RANGER (41,57m Danish Yachts).

Volvo Ocean Race participant “Desafío Mapfre Islas Cíes”, has stayed in the marina recently where a welcome ceremony was held with the Mayor of Vigo and Project director, Pedro Campos.

If you love sailing, you have to go and visit! The local cruising grounds include the marvellous Vigo ría, the Cíes Islands and a renowned gastronomy. In Marina Davila you can look forward to a very pleasant stay and great services.
