The NIBS phenomenon
On the 21st, 22nd & 23rd of October, the Nieuwpoort International Boat Show will celebrate its 13th edition, hosted in the VVW- Nieuwpoort Euromarina, Belgium.
The concept of the Nieuwpoort International Boat Show, originally called Cap°okaz, was created 13 years ago by three water-sports fanatics; based on the example set by “Les Mille Sabords du Crouesty” which had already been pushing the second hand market for 30 years.
Both private yacht owners and professionals were excited to have an easy accessible platform where boats can find new owners and where new boats can replace old boats and old boats can replace new boats. Reported sales figures have consolidated the popularity of the event with the amount of new yachts on exhibition having risen tremendously; no less than 220 boats are expected to be on show this year. The combination of an event afloat and on land is clearly a formula for success.
In 2004 a tent surface area of 350m² gave 30 exhibitors the chance to participate. Now in 2016, the event will welcome more than 120 exhibitors covering a tented area of 4000m²! Visitors can enjoy the show’s interactive content, including several activities such as flyboarding and SUP. Members of the Belgian Olympic team will also be on hand to teach match racing and so there will be plenty of opportunities to improve boat skills.
