Sailing gets off to a very attractive start with the Tour de Ré, the year’s first main local event that invites cruisers and racing enthusiasts to cirumnavigate the attractive and popular Ile de Ré.
Organised by the Société des Régates Rochelaises with the support of the local La Rochelle cruising association, this convivial May get-together offers an easy programme to suit all preferences of sailing engagement!
Those of a more competitive persuasion can opt to take part in the “Tour de Ré” or the shorter “Petit Tour de Ré”. Others wishing to take things a little easier can join the “Rallye du Tour de Ré”.
By all accounts, midday to midnight on Friday 6th May sees the event opening party with a barbeque, oyster bar and live music in the Port de Minimes within the Port de Plaisance de La Rochelle. Best not overdo it since the Skipper’s briefing takes place at 8am on Saturday 7th with the rally and race starts later that day.
Prize-giving and oyster tasting takes place at midday on Sunday and the all-inclusive entry price is just 10€ per person. For more information, contact the Société des Régates Rochelaises: info@srr-sailing.com – www.srr-sailing.com
