Venezia Certosa Marina is a fully serviced yacht harbour on Certosa Island in the middle of Venitian Lagoon, located between the entrance of the port and city centre. The Marina is serviced by private shuttle and the public transport system, which takes only 15 minutes from St. Mark’s square, 10 minutes from the Biennale Exposition area and 30 minutes from the International Airport (20 minutes with water taxi). With a large, natural park for walks and outdoor sports activities, Certosa island is a destination by itself where yacht owners, guests and crew can enjoy the marina facilities in a quiet and exclusive surrounding.
Exploring the lagoon of Venice is definitively best done by boat and so below, we propose itineraries aboard your own boat. You will find that some minor routes are only possible by traditional boats in order not to disturb the fragile equilibrium of the Lagoon’s ecosystem and these are indicated accordingly. The Laguna Veneta is a unique environment where history, art and culture are intertwined unlike anywhere else in the world. Explore unforgettable moments experiencing the scenery, exceptional food and wine, traditional crafts and colourful local festivals.
ROUTES
Itinerary 1 on your own boat: The northern Lagoon, with its varied landscape, famous islands such as Burano and Torcello, and other hidden corners.
Starting from Certosa, passing Le Vignole and San Erasmo “the vegetable garden of Venice” to the north, you will reach Burano Island famous for its colourful islands and lace production.
The blue itinerary on the map indicates good anchorages.
Another way to visit those islands is by renting a traditional boat at Venezia Certosa Marina from Classic Boat Venice and you will enjoy stops and sightseeing: S.Erasmo, Convento San Francesco del Deserto, Torcello, Burano, Lazaretto Nuovo, then return to Certosa.
Itinerary 2 on your own boat: Explore the southern Lagoon, following the long narrow islands of
Lido and Pellestrina up to Chioggia where you can stop in a marina and visit the town.
Sail between points 1 and 2 taking advantage of the north wind blowing in the morning and go up Chioggia, returning to Venice with the southerly afternoon breeze. Enjoy sailing the Laguna close to Pellestrina, the small islands like Poveglia and San Spirito are abandoned today; Lazzaretto Vecchio, originally the site for a hospital from the 15th century until the 17th century used to nurse patients during the plague epidemics; San Lazzaro degli Armeni with a monastery, the birthplace of the Mechitarist order which has made the island one of the most important centres of Armenian culture. Enjoy the wonderful arrival in Venice to Punta della Dogana in front of Saint Mark’s square.
To visit these smaller islands described in this second itinerary, you will need to rent a traditional boat at Venezia Certosa Marina from Classic Boat Venice
