Blue Innovation Dock - TransEurope Marinas

Sustainability and innovation take the stage at a new event during the popular Düsseldorf show.

boot Düsseldorf and the European Boating Industry (EBI) have just announced plans for the “Blue Innovation Dock” (BID), a new stage at the show, which is taking place from 22nd to the 30th January 2022. The BID brings together companies, visionaries, investors, and policymakers to make the industry fit for the future and to promote sustainability and innovation through boot Düsseldorf’s unique platform. This exceptional forum, which will take place throughout the show, will discuss the steps towards a sustainable development of the industry.

Joining the discussion on the topic of “The marina of the Future”, set for Monday 24th, are TransEurope Marinas committee members Renata Marevic, manager of Marina Punat in Krk Island, Croatia, and Nienke Zetzema, manager of Jachthaven Waterland, together with the association’s secretary, Melanie Symes.

The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will also be participating in the Blue Innovation Dock with a high-level political panel on the development of sustainable coastal and maritime tourism. This will cover the expansion of new and existing maritime and inland waterway tourism destinations, as well as governmental support for marinas and other boating infrastructure.

Other topics cover circular economy practices in boating, industry innovations and of course alternative energy solutions. Highlights from the BID will be streamed and can be followed live on boot.com.

As Philip Easthill, Secretary General of the EBI, commented:

Our industry is aware of the need to move towards sustainability. The Blue Innovation Dock is an opportunity to showcase this shift, discover the latest innovations and collaborate within our sector and beyond. We are very excited to launch this project with our partner boot Düsseldorf and take a big step towards sustainability.

boot Düsseldorf sent out a press release recently, confirming that the show would be going ahead, which has come as a great relief for many stalwarts of this popular annual meeting place for the international boating crowd. Based on statistics from previous events, the show attracts exhibitors from no less than 74 countries and approximately a quarter of a million visitors.
